I research, write, and teach about popular culture, education, childhood, and the globalization of American culture.  I am also interested in theories and methods of teaching the American Studies "habit of mind."

Courses include "Childhood and Family in American Culture," "American Popular Culture and the World," "The Cold War and American Culture," and "Introduction to American Popular Culture." 

I have a Ph.D. in American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin.  I am a former high school English teacher. 

I live in Long Beach, CA.
